International Freight Specialist

Our client, a global manufacturer of industrial automation and material handling solutions, is seeking an International Freight Specialist to join their logistics team in Raleigh, NC. This role is central to the company's import and export activity, keeping international shipments compliant, on time, and cost-effective across every mode of transport. The ideal candidate brings hands-on customs compliance experience and the confidence to own global shipments from start to finish.

Job Responsibilities - - Manage international import and export freight across air, ocean, LTL/FTL, and parcel modes.

- Schedule and track freight movement from pickup to delivery to meet on-time targets.

- Build and verify export paperwork such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and origin certificates.

- Classify inbound freight under the correct HTS codes and submit EEI filings through AES when required.

- Keep all shipments in line with CBP requirements, EAR, Incoterms, and applicable trade rules.

- Work directly with brokers, forwarders, and carriers to clear customs holds and shipping delays.

- Audit freight and duty charges for accuracy and identify cost-saving opportunities.

- Keep ERP and TMS records current and share shipment updates with internal teams and customers.

Job Requirements - - Recent, hands-on experience with both import and export operations.

- 5+ years of experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, or trade operations.

- Solid understanding of customs compliance, HTS classification, CBP requirements, and EAR.

- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and organizing large data sets.

- Experience working in an ERP system and parcel platforms such as UPS World Ship or Fed Ex Ship Manager.

- Strong organization and follow-through when juggling multiple priorities.

- Background in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred.

- ITAR knowledge or a customs/export compliance certification (CUSECO, Licensed Customs Broker) a plus.
