Duties, Responsibilities & Other- Lead water resources and stormwater engineering projects for federal, state and municipal clients; serve in a client-focused role, managing projects and mentoring junior staff.
- Coordinate and complete project elements; execute project work and produce high-quality deliverables; maintain project schedules and client communications.
- 7+ years of experience (10+ preferred) with municipal and state stormwater programs, MS4 permits, stormwater design, inspections and monitoring, TMDL planning; experience in business development and client relationship management in the Raleigh area or Southeast with municipal clients and state agencies; NCDOT experience is a plus.
- Manage all aspects of projects (technical staff, subcontractors, suppliers) to ensure timely and successful delivery.
- Develop and communicate the Project Management Plan including objectives, scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Align project scope with client expectations and requirements; maintain schedules and monitor budgets, identifying delays and risks; implement corrective actions.
- Uphold high-quality standards through QA processes and adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Act as primary client contact; foster a collaborative environment with internal stakeholders to drive project success.
- Allocate resources efficiently and manage risks; conduct risk assessments and contingency planning.
- Support staff development and training.
- Oversee preparation of plans, technical specifications, quantity takeoffs and construction estimates per state design manuals and standard drawings.
- Develop local client relationships and explore opportunities to bring in new business.
- Develop and execute project management plans; monitor progress and report in Project Review Meetings; ensure projects stay on time and within budget.
- Mentor staff; ensure compliance with KCI policies and procedures.
- Contribute to project-specific safety plans and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety rules and regulations.
- Negotiate contract terms, scope and fees; develop project schedules from inception to completion; identify opportunities to parallelize tasks to optimize schedules.
- Develop contracts for clients/subconsultants; report monthly on business development results to Sr. PM or Practice Leader.
