Overview

The Executive Learning Producer (ELP) is a senior-level execution and strategic leadership role.

The primary function (approx. 70%) is to directly lead and deliver the highest priority, most strategic, and complex learning projects within an assigned client portfolio, serving as a master practitioner of learning production.

The secondary function (approx. 30%) is to manage the long-term success, strategic alignment, and growth of their dedicated Client Book of Business, serving as the primary bridge between the client's high-level business goals and the independent project execution led by Learning Producers (LPs).

Key Responsibilities

Direct Project Execution & Senior Leadership (The 70% Focus)

  • Direct Project Leadership:
    Directly lead and execute highly strategic, complex, or sensitive projects within the client book of business that require senior-level oversight or direct Executive involvement.
  • Accountability for Project Standards:
    Oversees the execution, quality, and strategic consistency of all projects within the assigned account portfolio. This includes providing critical guidance and assurance to LPs and ALPs (who do not report directly), ensuring consistency in quality and strategy through oversight and leadership.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Ensure a consistent, high standard of quality across all projects delivered within the book of business, with a direct focus on projects under the ELP's leadership.
  • Risk & Impact Assessment:
    For direct-led projects, serve as the primary point of deep management and mitigation for complex client-facing issues, budget overruns, or significant scope deviations.

Strategic Client Portfolio Management (The Book of Business) with Mentorship & Strategic Oversight (The 30% Focus)

  • Relationship Strategy:
    Manage the overall, long-term relationship and strategic approach for an assigned portfolio of clients.
  • Business Alignment:
    Deeply understand the clients' broader organizational goals, ensuring that every project within the book of business is strategically aligned with their objectives.
  • Growth Identification:
    Proactively identify, scope, and develop opportunities (aligning with Accounts/Business Development team) for new projects and services within the assigned client portfolio to drive revenue and deeper partnership.
  • Account Advising:
    Act as the primary strategic advisor to the Account Director, providing essential insights into the overall status, health, and direction of the client book of business.
  • Organizational Mentorship:
    Offer high-level strategic advice and context to ALPs and LPs, coaching them on complex client communications and project management.
  • Strategic Oversight and Escalation:
    Conduct regular, high-level strategic check-ins with LPs who are independently managing individual projects within the ELP’s book of business. Advises and leads escalation situations within their dedicated portfolio, leading the way and demonstrating best practices to the team.

Departmental Leadership

  • Process Contribution:
    Collaborate with the Director of Learning Production to develop and embed department-wide best practices for client portfolio management, strategic planning, and risk mitigation.
  • Team Development:
    Contribute to the overall growth and health of the Learning Production department by sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of strategic thinking.

    Skill in coaching and elevating mid-level producers (LPs) to manage projects independently and effectively.

    Deep, comprehensive knowledge of the learning and development industry, instructional design methodologies, and project management best practices.
