The Planning and Development Services Department provides opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth. You will be working with a team of scientists and engineers of many backgrounds, bringing expertise and experience from various sectors, government, industry and academia, with a passion to protect the environment. The Watershed Management Division strives for first-class service delivery and continued national recognition by making contributions that have broader impacts and implications beyond the County
. The Watershed Management program is an integral part of the Division. As the Watershed Program Manager

TheBasics (Required
Education and Experience )
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or related field
- Five years of experience in environmental health, environmental planning, inspections or engineering
- Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

- Advanced degree in engineering, environmental science, law, geology, business, or related area
- NCPE – North Carolina Professional Engineer’s (PE) License upon hire or the ability to obtain through comity
- Organized, detail-oriented, with solid analytical, computer and problem-solving skills
- Excellent ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical groups, both verbally and in writing
- Excellent ability to identify performance measures and take action to improve and maintain high-quality, competitive core services
- Excellent ability to collaborate with stakeholders on projects both within and outside the organization
- Excellent skills in completing work and projects involving multiple people and organizations
- Advanced ability to help others understand and achieve organizational goals
- Excellent knowledge of customer service principles, including needs assessment, quality standards and satisfaction evaluation
- Excellent knowledge of rules, design principles and methods to control sedimentation and erosion and mitigate stormwater runoff
- Ability to lead a team of engineers and scientists with technical expertise in plan review, erosion and sedimentation control and stormwater management
