The Facilities Purchasing Supervisor plays a vital role in keeping NC State University’s campus running smoothly. This position leads and coordinates procurement activities that support the maintenance, repair, and operational needs of the Facilities Division—helping ensure that university property is well cared for and public funds are used responsibly.
In this role, you’ll combine leadership, problem‑solving, and procurement expertise to guide a dedicated team, support a large and diverse customer base, and navigate state and university purchasing requirements. Keyresponsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
- Supervise, schedule, and support Facilities Purchasing staff, including full‑time and temporary employees, to ensure consistent and high‑quality procurement services.
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coaching, and performance oversight to promote accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Ensure continuity of purchasing operations by serving as a backup for team members and addressing workflow needs as they arise.
- Oversee the processing of more than 10,000 purchase transactions annually to support the operational needs of the Facilities Division.
- Manage the full lifecycle of purchase orders from requisition through receipt and closeout within financial and procurement systems.
- Enforce compliance with North Carolina State purchasing laws, university regulations, and Facilities Division procedures.
- Review, validate, and administer non‑capital and non‑informal contract purchase orders to ensure accuracy and fiscal responsibility.
- Maintain complete and compliant procurement documentation to support audits and state appropriation requirements.
- Advise Facilities Division staff on appropriate purchasing methods, required documentation, and internal approval processes.
- Support strategic sourcing efforts to secure best value in cost, quality, and availability of goods and services.
- Serve as a primary point of contact between vendors, internal customers, and University Procurement to resolve purchasing and contractual issues.
