Lead the business strategy behind housing solutions that make an impact across Wake County.

Wake County is seeking a Housing Business Administration Director to provide executive-level leadership and oversight of business and administrative functions within the Housing Affordability and Community Revitalization (HACR) Department
. This highly visible leadership role is responsible for strengthening the fiscal, administrative and operational infrastructure that supports affordable housing, homelessness services and community development initiatives across Wake County
.

The Director provides strategic leadership for fiscal management, budget development, operational evaluation, business planning, RFP development and evaluation, contract management, position management and business process improvement across multiple high-impact divisions, including Homeless and Prevention Services, Permanent Housing & Supportive Services, Equitable Housing & Community Development and Veteran Services.

With responsibility for a complex and diversified annual budget exceeding $45 million
, the Director oversees operating funds, capital projects, and federal grant funds while ensuring solid fiscal accountability and compliance. Beyond fiscal management, this position integrates business process management and strategic operational planning to strengthen departmental performance, improve service delivery and support informed decision-making.

The Housing Business Administration Director also provides high-level leadership to a multidisciplinary team, directly supervising positions that include the Department Business Manager, Contracts and Inspections Manager and Housing Grants Administrator. The Director fosters a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement while promoting consistent fiscal practices and effective business operations across the Department.

Not only do more units of affordable housing need to be built, housing services must be provided to support families and individuals to access or maintain safe, decent, affordable housing.

The Department’s programs include Community Revitalization, Development Financing, Rental Assistance, Homeless Services, Community Outreach, Emergency Shelter, and Permanent Supportive Housing.

• Bachelor's degree
• Six years of experience in public administration, business administration, accounting or budgeting including at least two years of supervisory experience
• Equivalent education and experience are accepted
