• Selects type and size of pipe, fittings, valves, steel, equipment and related materials to assemble as instructed.
• Plans sequence of operations, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat and allowance for weld shrinkage in preparation to welding.
• Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together according to blueprints and project specifications.
• Moves parts into position manually or by hoist, cranes, jigs, fixtures, clamps and jacks.
• Cuts, threads, bends, shapes pipe and steel with various tools and equipment.
• Loads, transports and unloads materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
• Performs minor maintenance and cleaning activities of tools, equipment and facility.
• Observes and complies with all safety and project rules, including wearing personal safety equipment.
• Performs other duties and activities as required.

• Technical or on-the-job experience as well as certifications preferred.
• Take a company written pipefitter’s test.
• Working knowledge of B31.3 piping code.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions from documentations, sketches, drawings or verbal direction for the fabrication of engineered components of pipe and structural steel materials.
• Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
• Apply basic math, geometry, and trigonometry to solve problems.
• Plan work and select proper tools.
• Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
