Engineering Research Technician (contract to hire position) - Raleigh, NC vicinity

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Engineering Research Technician to utilize their patent-pending hardware (with advanced AI modeling) to work in their laboratory, calibrating, soldering, and measuring the tension of their product. Their technology reduces the maintenance and inspection time on large structures by up to 90% vs. traditional methods.

The starting hourly rate is $26.40/hour and upon conversion, you are eligible for their amazing benefit package.

The Engineering Research Technician is a critical role that is focused on signal data collection across numerous bolts. A focus on safety and data integrity is a paramount concern for this position and all warehouse team members. This role reports to the Technical Operations Manager, who manages and oversees the warehouse staff. Applicants should expect a fast-paced, hard-working environment and the rewards of working with a small and growing company.

The position conducts laboratory tests on steel bolts and minor equipment maintenance for the research and innovation team. You will work almost exclusively in the lab (some office time required), and you will be required to utilize a variety of tools and equipment to accomplish your job. Experience with data entry, repetitive tasks requiring attention to detail, electronics, and hydraulic equipment experience are useful for this role.

Proficient soldering skills and small electronics repair is highly desired, but not necessary.

• Support of laboratory testing and collection of data.
• Work with a focus on safety and attention to detail in data acquisition.
• Will need to organize large amounts of data being captured without getting the details confused.
• Ability to care for high-value laboratory equipment and ensure proper operation.
• Ability to keep the work environment organized and clean to eliminate safety concerns.
• Ability to operate hydraulic equipment (training will be provided).
• Ability to operate ultrasonic transducers (training will be provided).
• Ability to evaluate ultrasonic waveform quality (training will be provided).
• Possible local field data collection for certain projects.
• Action-oriented and works well with challenges; drives self and others for results
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred science and engineering lab experience but someone who has been a field technician might enjoy this opportunity.
• Able to lift 50-75 lbs. regularly.
• Enjoys a hands-on laboratory working environment.
• Able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Able to take direction well and follow experiment plans and procedures.
• Able to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
• Able to maintain a neat, organized workspace in the laboratory.
• Able and willing to operate potentially hazardous equipment.
• Experience in Microsoft Office and Outlook is a must.
• Experience in operating hydraulic equipment is a plus.
• Experience with ultrasonic transducers is a plus.
• Experience with soldering and basic electronics maintenance is a plus.
