Sr. Assembly Technician

Our client, an established global manufacturer of vacuum automation and material handling equipment, is seeking a Senior Assembly Technician to join their growing team in Raleigh, NC. This hands-on role centers on building custom, low-volume equipment such as robotic end-of-arm tooling and lifting systems, where no two projects are quite the same. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude, confidence with fabrication tools, and the drive to take ownership of complex builds from drawing to shipment.

Job Responsibilities - - Build and assemble vacuum-based automation equipment, including lifting devices, overhead handling systems, and robotic tooling.

- Perform mechanical and electrical assembly on end-of-arm tooling for automated robotic cells.

- Interpret engineering drawings to guide builds from start to finish.

- Fabricate and modify components using drill presses, saws, grinders, and other shop equipment.

- Inspect incoming materials for accuracy and quality, then stock parts in inventory.

- Prepare and package completed equipment to ensure safe delivery.

- Support shipping, receiving, and returns processing as workload requires.

- Partner with application engineers and sales staff on product questions, with occasional customer site visits.

Job Requirements - - High school diploma or GED.

- Experience with mechanical and electrical assembly, including troubleshooting.

- Strong mechanical aptitude and a technical mindset.

- Proficient with metal fabrication and shop tools, including band saws, grinders, drill presses, and miter saws.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word.

- Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited oversight.

- Background building custom or one-off OEM equipment in a smaller shop environment preferred.

- Experience with ABAS or a similar ERP system a plus.
