The Raleigh Parks - Program Technician supports Raleigh Parks' Marketing Communications team by creating social media content, assisting with website updates, conducting research, and helping execute special events. This part‑time role also reviews visual communications for brand.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job‑related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Drafts content for Parks and Recreation's website and social media pages
  • Utilize equipment to take pictures of parks, programs, and community initiatives happening around the city
  • Assists with website updates, research, special event support, and reviewing visual communication to ensure adherence to branding standards
  • A city driving permit will be required in order to operate a city vehicle for driving to locations to capture pictures and videos of events
Education and Experience

Less than a High School diploma; less than 1 year customer service, office support recreation program implementation or related experience OR any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted

Licensing and Certifications
  • Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of working experience with content creation and Social Media Management
  • 2 years of experience specific to marketing or communications
  • Experience managing website updates, ensuring accurate information, clear navigation, and consistent branding across digital platforms
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of social media best practices, digital communication trends, and brand‑aligned content creation
  • Ability to manage website updates using content management systems while maintaining accuracy, accessibility, and visual consistency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and interact professionally with the public
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, ensuring timely completion of projects while maintaining attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment
  • Attention to detail with the ability to multitask
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate both verbally and written
ADA and Other Requirements

Work Environment and Physical Effort:
Medium – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an office or similar indoor setting. Employees may occasionally work in an outdoor environment or in a vehicle. Work Exposures:
Work in this position does not require frequent environmental exposures.
