The Emerging Voter Program (EVP) Program Coordinator will be responsible for leading the strategic vision of the program and development of local civic participation by supporting the engagement of students and other young adults between the ages of 18-35 via community engagement initiatives, supporting the already established professional working group of students and campus staff supporting nonpartisan democracy efforts, led by the program advisor, sustain the program initiatives of the program, with support from the program advisor and serve as direct point of contact for youth and young adult voter initiatives.
This role will also help to increase young adult attendance at North Carolina Black Alliance (NCBA) events and table meetings. This role will discover new opportunities within the community to establish a stronger bond with our target audience and increase student and young adult civic participation.
The EVP Program Coordinator will report to the deputy director and execute efforts on designated campuses and venues that increase engagement with young voters.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop long-term strategic vision of the EVP Program
- Co-create evergreen outreach programs (events/initiatives) for NCBA
- Support and manage the hiring of the team that include but is not limited to, an EVP associate
- Establish relationships on the key HBCUs, PWIs and MSIs to support the voting outreach initiatives of the organization
- Maintain relationships with funders and primary external partners, in collaboration with the Development Director, Deputy Director and Executive Director
- Co-Lead the HBCU Think Tank and other outreach efforts to brand NCBA on the various campuses, in collaboration with the program advisor
- Develop substantive relationships with campus stakeholders invested in civic participation on NC college campuses. This includes co-managing all aspects of the event organizing process, including collaboration with subcontractors, venue identification, printing and design of materials
- Track and maintain a yearly budget for the program
- Document program successes through designated reporting instruments and 1:1 meetings with the director
Qualifications:
- Proven work experience, preferably in a 501(c) nonprofit organization (1 – 3 years)
- Familiarity with the way nonprofit organizations are structured.
- Analytical skills
- Detailed oriented
- Ability to self-motivate, work with both close direction and independently, function well as a team member, and know when to seek guidance or get help.
- Strong interpersonal skills, experience meeting deadlines and funding goals, and the ability to multitask while maintaining a calm, professional work style.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google applications.
