Description
As a contract full‑time employee thru May 31, 2009, to be responsible for the development, solicitation, application, and coordination of obtaining available sources of revenue, federal, state, corporate, and private sector grants/sponsor ships, endowments, gifts, appropriations, and memorials in support of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall (VWPAH).
Essential Functions- Conducts extensive research and studies to identify sources of funding from the public, private, and corporate sectors; develops plans for contacting and persuading such sources of the mission and activities of the VWPAH.
- Participates in the drafting of grant applications and the conduct of all explanatory and presentation activities needed to secure the grants.
- Develops sponsor ships for the Hall’s programming through corporate, private and public sponsors.
- Plans and conducts presentations to public, private, and corporate groups.
- Maintains Donor Relations Programs, acknowledgement, and recognition of gifts and contributions.
- Maintains relationship with the Foundation of the Hall and works to develop a strategic plan with the Foundation.

A Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Relations, Business Administration, Finance or related field and a minimum of six (6) years of training and demonstrated successful experience in development fundraising, grants application, and other programs, practices and techniques used in raising revenue for non‑profit civic, educational, and/or cultural activities; or the equivalent in education, training, and experience, which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
A Master Degree is preferred.
- A thorough, comprehensive, and appreciative knowledge and understanding of the roles and missions of Performing Arts Halls.
- A good knowledge of sources of revenues and methods and techniques of attraction.
- Knowledge of general office computer skills.
- A good knowledge of persons prominent and knowledge of clerical practices including compilation and presentation data.
- Ability to express one’s self effectively, orally and in writing - public speaking ability.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City employees, Foundation and Advisor Group members, civic and community groups, as well as federal, state, and local government officials.
- Ability to analyze problems and exercise good judgment in dealing with complex issues.
- Skill in dealings and negotiations with interested sources of revenue.
- Ability to work changing and irregular shifts, nights, weekends and holidays if necessary.
