Responsibilities

The Aide assumes responsibility for assisting residents with daily living activities, encouraging and guiding them to maintain the highest level of function, and reporting needs and concerns to the supervisor on duty.

  • Perform or assist with all resident direct care needs and comforts of daily living, including but not limited to lifting, turning, positioning, transporting, bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, answering call lights, and providing restorative care such as range of motion, ambulation, and bowel and bladder training.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing; follow written and verbal directions; provide exemplary customer service to residents, peers, families, managers, and visitors; report any changes in physical or mental conditions promptly.
  • Assist nurses with assigned tasks, including measuring and recording vitals; gathering weights and other documentation; making beds, cleaning, organizing, and ensuring cleanliness of resident living areas; assisting with new admissions and training of new staff as assigned.
  • Adhere to resident rights documentation, help residents exercise and protect their rights, and report complaints while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Document resident information timely, accurately, and confidentially according to the electronic medical record system.
  • Follow Safety & Compliance policies, properly use equipment, and report equipment needs or repairs.
  • Practice universal precautions, use protective equipment, and follow infection control protocols.
  • Perform food service functions: preparing residents for meals, serving food, assisting with eating, after‑meal care, providing snacks and water, recording intake, noting changes, and reporting appropriately.
  • Provide additional resident care needs and comforts, including maintaining cleanliness of resident rooms, engaging in activities of interest, and providing restorative nursing programs to maintain ADLs.
