Description Of WorkBroughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for Clinical Nurse Supervisor (Nurse Supervisor I) in Specialty Service area. The clinical Nurse Supervisor is responsible for supervising the 24‑hour delivery of clinical nursing care, both physical and psychosocial, in designated service areas. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining adequate nursing staff coverage, supervising, and continuously monitoring the delivery of nursing care, identifying nursing needs and issues, and developing approaches to solve identified issues.
AdditionalResponsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Serving as a professional resource to staff and continuously monitoring compliance with agency policies and standards. Leading employees by demonstrating a professional, caring approach, by listening, being accessible, and leading by example toward common short‑term operational goals and objectives of the unit.
- Advising and counseling employees on job performance and conduct.
- Collaborating with service‑area supervision to implement plans for employees to gain necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform their duties.
- Listening, asking questions, and providing feedback to employees, giving clear and concise instructions.
- Developing and maintaining effective communication and work relationships with physicians, upper management, healthcare personnel, patients, families, agencies, and others.
- Assessing employee competencies and conducting or participating in management reviews.
- Coaching, mentoring, and supporting professional development of nursing staff.
- Delegating and assigning tasks.
- Promoting communication as well as identifying and addressing quality monitoring and performance improvement issues.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and evaluating licensed/unlicensed nursing staff.
- Experience implementing and evaluating evidence‑based practices.
- Experience assessing patients across the lifespan.
- Experience working with patients with substance abuse, mental illness, and intellectual developmental disorders.

Sign‑On Bonus- A sign‑on bonus of $10,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025‑2026 budget approval.
- Eligibility for the sign‑on bonus requires a newly hired permanent full‑time or permanent part‑time employee to work 30 to 40 hours per week.
- The employee has held a position in North Carolina state government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months.
- The employee has previously received a sign‑on bonus from any state agency.
- DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
Selected applicants must be able to pass a State Bureau of Investigation criminal history check, and complete and pass BLS/CPR training and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training during orientation. The position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
Work Schedule- 8‑hour shifts, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday–Friday with alternating weekends and holidays.
