We’re hiring a night shift Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department Holding Unit, supporting patients in an ED holding area who require med‑surg or intermediate‑level care while they await admission, transfer, or next steps in their care journey. You’ll play a key role in delivering safe, coordinated care to a diverse patient population in a fast‑paced ED environment.
What You’ll Do- Provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care based on individualized plans of care
- Assess and monitor patients’ physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs while coordinating care with the interdisciplinary team
- Safely administer medications, treatments, and therapies per physician orders and nursing standards
- Educate patients and families using clear, respectful communication that supports shared decision‑making
- Uphold Wake Med’s Professional Practice Model and Patient & Family Centered Care philosophy in every interaction
- A licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of North Carolina
- Comfortable caring for med‑surg and/or intermediate‑acuity patients, ideally in an ED or acute care setting
- A strong communicator who values teamwork, collaboration, and patient safety
- Committed to providing compassionate care that respects patient and family preferences
- Able to think critically and stay adaptable in a dynamic, high‑energy environment
