What You'll Be Doing

The Women's Health Clinic is dedicated to providing comprehensive and personalized care for women at every stage of life. The clinic offers a wide range of family planning services, pregnancy testing, and female exams. Our clinic is committed to supporting women's health and well‑being through expert care and compassionate service.

The Women's Clinic Nurse will:

  • Provide prenatal educational materials and information advocating for gestational health and childbirth outcomes.
  • Triage clients and respond to prenatal triage calls.
  • Document visits in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with North Carolina's local health department agreement addendum.
  • Conduct patient interviews, obtain medical and pregnancy histories.
  • Offer counseling and education related to pregnancy and childbirth.
  • Assess vaccination status and administer vaccinations as needed.
  • Perform fetal non‑stress tests (NST).
  • Make patient referrals to interdepartmental and community resources such as the WIC, Medicaid, and other community providers based on assessment results related to social determinants of health.
  • Review lab results and provide follow‑up or communicate plan to provider, as appropriate.
  • Administer medications and treatment per protocol.
  • Accept responsibility and accountability for care associated with the nurse‑delegation model by appropriately delegating to unlicensed personnel (including but not limited to certified medical assistants and certified nursing assistants).
  • Precept, train, and assist nursing students and/or new‑hire staff (after validation of competency from nursing supervisor).

Work Schedule note: 8:15 am – 5:15 pm with an expectation to work one evening clinic per week until 7:15 pm to make 40 hours per week.

In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. The employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during, and after the emergency. The employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Basics (Required

Education and Experience )
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • No specific experience required.
  • Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse as issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted.
Beyond the Basics (Preferred

Education and Experience )
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Women's Health experience is preferred.
  • Basic CPR certification.
  • Experience in Public Health and/or Family Planning.
  • Spanish language skills preferred but not required.

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients/families by listening and understanding and responding to identified needs.
  • Ability to convey information clearly and concisely to groups or individuals either verbally or in writing to ensure understanding of the information and the message.
  • Ability to listen and respond appropriately to others.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to change or compromise as needed.
  • Passion for educating and promoting women's health.
