- No Trauma Designation
- Not a Teaching Hospital
- Chest Pain Center
- Stroke Center
- Radius rule:
Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Unit Information:
- Beds: 43
- 8 Clinical Decision beds – Behavioral Health (not locked)
- 4 additional on opposite side used for admins from FSED or holding patients
- Average Census: 145 patients on average per day
- Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years of ED exp
- Will you accept a first-time traveler? No
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- General ED Population – Trauma stabilization to ship out, Respiratory illness, Stroke, Behavioral Health, Acute MI, Uncontrollable Diabetes, Minor trauma, etc.
- Ages served – Pediatric to Geriatric
- 25-30% Admission rate
Patient Ratios:
- RN: 1:3-4, based on acuity
- CNA: will serve as Unit Coordinator and assisting RN with patient cares, ratios varies
Required License, National Certification, Certs:
- RN: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI (required)
- TNCC (preferred)
Skills required:
- General ED Skillset:
Cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation
Support within the Department:
- HCT/Unit Sec – 1:8-10
- Paramedic
- Charge nurse – free floating
- Patient Safety Attendants
- Pharmacist dedicated to ED – 7a to 11p
- Social Worker
- Scheduler
- RT 24/7
- ED Physicians + APP;
Geriatric APP - Hospitalist, 24/7
- Intensivist, 24/7
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pump:
Alaris - Med dispensing:
Omnicell - Monitors:
Phillips - Rover Communication;
Panda Infant Warmer, LUCAS
Floating:
- Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
- Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, any Freestanding ED within Region, Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Children's Hospital)
- If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
