Job Summary

We are seeking a Clinical Nurse II to independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in ambulatory clinic settings in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Room Patients and intake to include medications, history and vital signs. Complete orders as per provider:
    Delegate tasks and supervise activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers. Prepares orders for APPs and coordinates scheduling of required procedures
  • Preoperative/Postoperative

    Education:

    Provides educational materials, reviews pre-op instructions, and ensures understanding of post-op care and recovery expectations.
  • Weight Loss Groups Patient

    Education:

    Teaches new weight loss and revision patient groups, providing an overview of bariatric program requirements. Bariatric Chart Reviews:
    Guides patients through the surgical work‑up process, ensuring all program and insurance requirements are met
  • Inbasket messages – to include:
    Calling patients with results Cardiac clearance s FMLA/Work excuse Home health and DME.
  • Review future clinic schedules, call patients for upcoming appointments and procedures Clinic Pre‑Work:
    Reviews charts and gathers imaging or documentation for upcoming visits.
  • Triage coverage – answering calls, inbasket messages, medication refills, prior authorizations, Check voicemails daily Review any messages addressed to assigned surgeon(s) and respond. Review messages to PA’s and route to PA or respond if able Voicemails:
    Check Voicemail(s)
    · Respond to patients directly
    · Forward voicemails as needed (wrong provider/nurse)
    · Triage:
    Respond and/or forward/transcribe voicemail to appropriate provider/nurse
  • Clean and stock rooms. Monitor for supply and medication expirations dates. Unbox ordered supplies and confirm delivery amounts. Inventory and track samples in accordance with Duke Policy.
  • Cover Urology as needed for callouts/Vacations.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Job Eligibility Requirements
  • Work requires graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the BSN program within seven years of their start date. Exception:
    Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within seven years of their start date.
