Charge Nurse
Overview
Charge Nurse (S) position located at Central Prison, a close‑custody male offender facility with a maximum capacity of 1,318 inmates. The Charge/Lead Nurse provides professional nursing care in a supervisory capacity, managing and supervising daily nursing care on assigned shifts or areas, and coordinating licensed and non‑licensed staff.
Responsibilities- Conduct patient needs assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans, and provide patient care and education.
- Perform sick‑call assessments, medication administration, phlebotomy, transcribe MD/PA orders, and maintain thorough medical documentation.
- Monitor and treat communicable diseases and respond to emergencies.
- Coordinate all licensed and non‑licensed nursing staff during shifts and support preceptor functions.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
- At least one year of nursing experience (directly related health‑care setting).
- Knowledge of basic nursing principles and techniques, including physical assessment, clinical judgment, treatment planning, and evaluation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with correctional or custodial health‑care environments.
- Ability to work any shift, including weekends and holidays, in a rotating 36/48 schedule (5:45 a.m.–6:15 p.m.).
12‑hour shift: 5:45 a.m. – 6:15 p.m. Rotating 36/48 schedule.
CompensationSalary range: $62,044.00 – $. Eligible for a $7,500 sign‑on bonus if not a probationary, permanent, or time‑limited employee within the last 12 months.
