Job Summary
We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for our Duke Vascular Surgery and Vein Center at Brier Creek, located in Durham, NC, to work in collaboration with attending physicians, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations, and provide direct patient care services.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Collaborate with attending physicians to perform triage, physical exams, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies, diagnostic procedures, and professional consultations, prescribe appropriate interventions and medications, coordinate patient care, and provide direct patient care services.
- Analyze clinical practice patterns to improve medical care and increase effectiveness and efficiency.
- Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising MD, nursing staff, patient resource manager, home health agency, and other relevant healthcare providers.
- Provide timely documentation in the electronic medical record of all relevant data, including results of diagnostic tests, laboratory results, patients’ condition and response to therapies/interventions, and communications with physician colleagues.
- Physician Assistants:
Bachelor’s degree or higher required. Must be licensed by the North Carolina Medical Board and be board certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). - Nurse Practitioner:
Master’s degree or higher required. Must have current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina and approval to practice by the Board of Nursing. Must be board certified by a national certifying board in the appropriate patient focus.
- BLS required.
- RN‑FAC certification required for Nurse Practitioners.
- Nurse Practitioners:
Must have current or compact RN licensure and NP approval to practice in North Carolina. National certification as an NP required. - Physician Assistants:
Must be licensed in North Carolina and certified as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA. - Both:
Must demonstrate and maintain credentialing and licensing requirements of the Private Diagnostic Clinic and Duke Health, and possess current DEA licensure.
- 1+ years of surgical or oncology APP experience strongly preferred.
Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.
