Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate Tuberculosis activities for the control of the spread of TB in Halifax County.
Responsibilities- Project program needs, compile information for budget recommendations, and remain within budget allocated to the program.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of prevention, mode of transmission, screening techniques, new drug therapy, side effects of drugs, and case management of TB patients and contacts.
- Review notifications from doctors and referrals on all patients.
- Visit hospitalized patients and review charts when possible.
- Advise and provide basic health teaching to patients about prevention and detection of TB.
- Follow up on Communicable Diseases, manage the Respiratory Protection Plan, and fit‑test all employees.
- Oversee pharmacy management and inventory of TB medications.
- Work in clinic and community shelters as needed and perform other duties as required.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a four‑year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing that includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health Nursing experience; OR Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience; OR graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience, including two years of Public Health nursing experience.
- A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
- An appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of NC.
Non‑refundable signing bonus of $3,750 paid in the first paycheck following employment and execution of the Employment Signing and Retention Bonus Agreement.
Retention bonus of $3,750 paid in the next paycheck following completion of 12 full months of employment in the same position with the county.
