Summary:

Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
  • Two‑campus (Smithfield and Clayton) Emergency Departments with a combined total of 64 beds, offering diverse patient populations and acuity levels.
  • 4:1 nurse‑to‑patient ratios, supporting safe, high‑quality patient care.
  • Strong team‑based environment with a culture of collaboration and mutual support.
  • Chest Pain Accredited facility, delivering evidence‑based cardiac care, along with being an interventional STEMI center M-F 7a‑5p.
  • Primary Stroke Center, providing rapid, coordinated stroke response and treatment.
Responsibilities
  • Education – Identify and meet learning needs of self, attend education programs, use patient education materials, assess readiness to learn, assess developmental level and factors affecting learning.
  • Evaluation of Care – Identify expected patient outcomes, revise plan of care with guidance, discuss patient care with interdisciplinary team, communicate relevant information for continuity of care.
  • Implementation – Demonstrate competence in care of patients with complex problems; perform bedside point‑of‑care testing, use nursing standards, policies and procedures; organize and prioritize care; consult resources for complex care issues.
  • Leadership – Develop professional growth goals, achieve objectives within timeframe, facilitate collaboration, participate in unit goals and performance improvement, use communication systems, promote cost‑effective care, give feedback, maintain safe environment.
  • Patient Assessment – Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities, include physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs, synthesize data, assess discharge needs, develop family relationships.
  • Planning – Collaborate with patient/family to prepare or update plan of care, use multidisciplinary resources, employ full range of communication, identify and address cultural and ethnic issues, prioritize tasks for complex patients.
  • Research – Read applicable journals, bring ideas to staff for assessment of applicability.
Other Information

Education Requirements:

  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Professional Experience Requirements:

  • One (1) year of nursing experience.
