* This position qualifies for our UNC Health Johnston Incentive Program, which offers up to a $20,000.00 commitment incentive (4 year commitment) with BSN and at least 1 year of nursing experience, and up to $16,000.00 commitment incentive (4 year commitment) with ADN and at least 1 year nursing experience. Progressive Care Unit (PCU) DepartmentUNC Health Johnston PCU Department includes 19 intermediate level of care beds. Our team provides high quality care to a variety of patients including but not limited to antiarrhythmic and vasoactive drips, continuous Bi‑PAP, and many other treatment modalities.
Patients admitted to the Progressive Care Unit are on a continuous cardiac monitor. Ratios for intermediate level of care are 4 patients to 1 nurse. UNC Johnston is a Stroke, Chest Pain and STEMI accredited facility. Our PCU team consists of Registered Nurses, Monitor Techs and Patient Care Assistants committed to providing excellent, compassionate, and innovative care for our growing community.
SummaryProvides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities- Education – participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self, attends education programs, uses patient education materials, assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers.
- Evaluation of Care – identifies expected patient outcomes, seeks guidance in revision of plan of care, participates in discussion with interdisciplinary team, communicates relevant information.
- Implementation – demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, performs bedside point of care testing, utilizes organization and nursing standards, organizes and prioritizes care, consults with resources for complex care issues.
- Leadership – develops goals to promote professional growth, participates in unit goal achievement and performance improvement, uses communication systems, promotes cost‑effective care, gives feedback, aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines, promotes a safe environment.
- Patient Assessment – recognizes data to determine priorities, synthesizes assessment data, anticipates discharge needs, develops relationships with families.
- Planning – collaborates with patient/family, uses resources, identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues, prioritizes tasks.
- Research – reads journals, brings ideas and questions to staff for discussion.
Education Requirements:
Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
Professional Experience Requirements:
One (1) year of nursing experience.
