Position: Occupational Health Nurse, RN at WakeMed Health & Hospitals Raleigh, NC

Overview

The Occupational Health Nurse serves as the primary agent for the organization and implementation of all occupational health and safety related activities for all Wake Med facilities. The customer population is defined as all Wake Med employees, medical staff, contractors, academic staff, and volunteers.

  • Evaluation and intervention for healthcare workers who may harbor infectious agents
  • Follow‑up for employees exposed to hazardous or infectious agents in the workplace
  • Case management for occupational injuries/illnesses and the return‑to‑work process
  • Ensuring all facilities meet the requirements of the NC Occupational Safety and Health Act
  • Advocacy for employee health care and treatment
  • Direct nursing care to the patient population
  • Counseling employees in illness, injury management and prevention
  • Administration of pre‑placement assessments and the return‑to‑work process for work‑related and personal illnesses
  • Maintenance of error‑free medical records
  • Administration of vaccine and health surveillance programs

  • Registered Nurse (Preferred)
Education
  • Graduate Nursing (Required)
  • College Courses Nursing (Required)
  • Required Licensure/Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing (Preferred)
Experience
  • 2 Years Clinical in Ambulatory Care
  • 1 Year Nursing in Occupational Health or Human Resources (Worker's Compensation) or Clinical Infection Prevention and Control (Preferred)
