Job Opportunity – Neuro ICU Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required. Contract length flexible from 13+ weeks through February 27, 2027. Float requirement applies.
Highlights:
- Comprehensive Stroke Center specializing in ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, carotid procedures, aneurysm management, and post-neurosurgery care
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 2:1, may flex to 3:1 during high census periods
- Average daily census of 11-12 patients in a 13-bed unit with robust interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- Advanced neuro equipment experience including EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino ICP monitoring, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
- Epic charting system with 24-hour orientation (2 shifts) provided
- No call requirement
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required (strong neuro critical care background essential, not general ICU)
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- North Carolina or Compact RN license (may be pending at time of submission)
- Epic charting experience required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Proficiency in ventriculostomy management (EVDs), lumbar drains, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery care, ventilator management, stroke management, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, and isolation precautions
- Arterial line management experience preferred
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
