Travel Nurse Source  is working with Talent Burst, Inc. to find a qualified Med/Surg / Tele RN in Charlotte North, North Carolina, 28262!

Title: RN - Med Surg/Tele
Location: Charlotte North Carolina 28207
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 12hr Night Shift - 36
Shift Information:  
Clinical Interviewing- Yes - manager conducts final interview
On Call, Call Back Requirements None
Weekend Rotation: EOW
Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
Floating Requirements: Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)
Scheduling:

  • Weekend rotation: every other
  • No call
  • Holiday Expectations:
    Travelers will work 75% of holidays
  • RTO:
    Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
  • Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
  • Will be assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation
  • ADTU
    • 12 Beds
    • Patient Types: Med/Tele Overflow area to support all inpatient units/ED holding;
      Diagnoses include but are not limited to: CHF, COPD, Chest Pain workup, Stroke s/s, Respiratory issues, etc.;
      Testing is prioritized
  • 7

    North/South Ortho Surgical
    • 48 Beds
    • Patient Types: General Medical Overflow;
      Surgical Patients
      - Include, but are not limited to: total joint replacements (knees, hips, shoulders), spinal surgery (laminectomies, discectomies, fusions), shoulder procedures, etc.
    • Additional

      Skills Required:

      Ortho Experience;
      Spinal precautions
  • 6S Medical Telemetry
    • 34 Beds
    • Patient Types: COPD, Respiratory illnesses, Diabetic Ulcer, Abdominal pain, Pancreatitis, Altered Mental Status, ESRD, etc.
  • 5N Surgical Telemetry
    • 26 Beds
    • Patient Types: General Medical Telemetry Overflow;
      Surgical Patients
      - Bariatric weight loss surgery, Urology procedures, General post op, Abdominal surgeries – GI bleed, small bowel obstruction, foot and ankle surgery
  • 4N Cardiac Medical Telemetry
    • 29 Beds
    • Patient Types: Include, but are not limited to: congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, hypertension, stroke, cardiac arrhythmias, endocarditis, and initial cardiac work up for chest pain and/or shortness of breath. Initial cardiac work up typically includes prepping patients for cardiac stress test
    • Medical Telemetry
  • 3N Medical Telemetry
    • 31 Beds
    • Patient Types: End Stage Renal; PD;
      Fluid overload;
      Sickle cell; DM;
      Altered mental status;
      Cellulitis;
      Diabetic ulcers;
      Pancreatitis;
      Behavioral health
  • 2N Medical
    • Beds: 16 beds are Med/Tele Obs; 11 beds are Horizons Detox unit
    • Patient Types: New diagnosis DM, Chest Pain, R/O stroke, Abdominal pain, GI bleed, Detox, Suicidal Ideation, Altered Mental Status
Patient Ratios:
  • RN: 1:5-6 (critical surge 1:7-8)
  • CNA: 1:6-12
Required Licensure &

Certifications:

  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)
Skills required:
  • The only unit with additional skills needed is 7N/S Ortho – see above
  • General Med/Tele skillset:
    Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps
  • Medication gtt management to include:
