Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse – North Carolina
Start Date: November 2, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM;
Every other weekend required;
Call required if called off on a prescheduled shift;
Contract lengths: 13-26 weeks available
Highlights:
- Specialized Med-Surg Oncology unit caring for patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy
- ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification during assignment
- Comprehensive onsite training and educational support provided, including free access to oncology CEU courses
- Patient ratios: 1:6 with a daily census of 42 patients
- EPIC charting system with 24-hour orientation (2 shifts)
- First-time travelers welcome with 2 years of experience
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient nursing experience required
- ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration certification preferred (or commitment to obtain)
- EKG testing proficiency required prior to start
- Experience with Med-Surg, accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and chemotherapy monitoring
- Competency in colostomy care, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
- Willingness to float to similar units and alternate care locations including inpatient holding areas
- Availability to work during catastrophic events or disasters as part of Storm/Hurricane Team
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Additional Information:
- Floating required to similar medical units and alternate patient care locations
- Attendance at monthly staff meetings required
- Navy blue and white scrubs required
- Pre-start online modules (approximately 8-10 hours) must be completed using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
- Up to 7 days of time off available (no holidays; must work 2 of 3 major holidays)
- Missed shifts must be rescheduled; attendance expectations are strictly enforced
