Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Asheville, NC | Acute Care – Cardiovascular Stepdown

Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Projected Start:
September 4, 2026

• Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed cardiovascular surgery stepdown unit serving a primary population of CV surgery, vascular surgery, and thoracic surgery patients, as well as overflow medical cardiology patients
• Manage complex cardiac drip therapy including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, amiodarone, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
• Perform and oversee epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, and IV glucommander protocols
• Maintain a 1:5 patient ratio in a fast-paced stepdown environment utilizing Cerner EMR and Baxter IV/CADD epidural pump equipment
• Fulfill weekend shift expectations of a minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6-week schedule period and maintain flexibility to work holidays
• Float as needed to other stepdown units (1:5 ratio), medical-surgical units (1:6–7 ratio), or ER inpatient holding areas (1:6 ratio)

• Active RN licensure valid in North Carolina (or compact eligibility)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Stepdown experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required

• Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience (open heart/CABG, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) within the past year
• CVICU background
• Team-oriented with comfort in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
• Flexibility and adaptability in scheduling and unit assignments

• Opportunity to work alongside a large, experienced cardiovascular care team in a high-acuity specialty unit with exposure to complex surgical and medical cardiac populations
• No on-call requirements, offering a more predictable night shift schedule within a structured 13-week travel assignment
