Position Summary
This temporary position will be responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary hospital through routine stall and cage maintenance, hospital cleaning and disinfection, and waste removal. The incumbent will restrain and provide basic husbandry for equine and farm animal patients, and serve as backup for the small animal hospital with the same duties.

Work ScheduleSaturday – Tuesday, 1:00 PM – 12:00 AM, varying with occasional holiday coverage as needed.
SalaryHourly range: $15.00 – $18.75
ResponsibilitiesMaintain cleanliness and sanitation of the hospital and surrounding areas; perform routine stall and cage upkeep; conduct cleaning and disinfection of all patient areas; remove and dispose of waste safely; restrain and care for equine and farm animal patients; provide basic husbandry support; assist small animal hospital when required.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience handling and restraining equine patients, including mares with foals, pregnant mares, stallions, and other farm animals. Proficiency in animal husbandry practices, cleaning and disinfection protocols, and basic facility maintenance skills.
Required Skills- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Operating equipment such as forklifts, pressure washers, and basic power tools.
- Managing inventory and accurately measuring/diluting chemicals according to guidelines.
- Demonstrating safe, humane handling of all patients.
- Effective communication and collaboration within a team.
- Compliance with all institutional safety requirements.
- Valid NC driver’s license required; ability to commute to Reedy Creek Equine Farm.
- Experience restraining and providing husbandry care for equine and farm animal species.
- Prior experience in a veterinary setting.
- Working knowledge of infectious disease control programs.
- Familiarity with established safety programs, OSHA standards, and veterinary accreditation guidelines (AAHA, AVMA, etc.).
