  The Horticultural Specialist is a hands‑on, labor‑intensive role responsible for year‑round landscape maintenance to support the care and cultivation of various types of plant life across the NC State University campus. The position also provides updates and recommendations to the Field Lead regarding grounds activities and plant care needs. Additionally, the Horticultural Specialist is responsible for troubleshooting any landscape maintenance concerns and reporting findings to the Field Lead.

Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

• pruning, weeding, mulching, blowing, planting, watering, and debris removal.
• This position applies sound horticultural practices and integrated pest management procedures, serving as a plant care expert within a designated area of campus.
• The Horticultural Specialist ensures that all service agreements involving plant maintenance are fulfilled in accordance with established contracts, including tasks such as fertilization, pruning, general maintenance, and soil testing.

• Three to five years grounds maintenance and/or arboriculture experience.

• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with supervisors and the general public.
• Position should be able to understand verbal and written instructions regarding work assignments and other matters.
• Horticultural/Grounds maintenance experience
• Lift up to 60 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation

• A high level of applicable horticultural care and maintenance with some irrigation knowledge.
• Three to five years grounds maintenance and/or arboriculture experience.
