Lab Technician
The Lab Technician supports microbiology laboratory operations by maintaining environmental monitoring and water for injection (WFI) trending, managing laboratory materials and culture media, and performing routine microbiological activities in accordance with current standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
Responsibilities- Maintain Environmental Monitoring (EM) trending data in accordance with current SOPs, ensuring accurate documentation and timely updates.
- Maintain WFI (Water for Injection) trending according to current SOPs, including proper recording, review, and reporting of results.
- Manage and maintain the inventory of materials and culture media used in the microbiology laboratory, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage.
- Request all necessary materials and media through the established purchasing process and actively follow up on each purchase order to ensure timely delivery.
- Read and interpret microbiological plates after completion of the required incubation period, documenting and communicating results as needed.
- Serve as a backup for performing Environmental Monitoring activities, including sampling and documentation, in compliance with established procedures.
- Perform other related laboratory duties as needed to support microbiology operations and ensure smooth workflow.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working in a microbiology laboratory.
- Degree in microbiology or biology.
- Hands‑on experience with environmental monitoring in a laboratory or GMP setting.
- Strong knowledge of microbiology principles and laboratory practices.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
- Ability to follow and adhere to detailed SOPs and documentation standards.
- Attention to detail when reading and interpreting microbiological plates and recording data.
- Organizational skills to manage inventory and maintain accurate records.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience maintaining trending data for Environmental Monitoring (EM) and WFI.
- Experience managing and tracking laboratory materials and culture media.
- Ability to coordinate with purchasing processes and follow up on orders.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with laboratory and support teams.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to other duties as needed in a busy laboratory environment.
This role is based in a microbiology laboratory environment that operates under GMP and SOP-driven processes. The position follows a regular weekday schedule, working Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. The work involves routine handling of culture media, microbiological plates, and environmental monitoring samples, with a focus on accuracy, documentation, and compliance.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
