Cooper for North Carolina (CFNC) is looking to hire a full-time Research Assistant to join our growing Research team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Research Assistant will support the Research department’s tracking, media monitoring, and opposition research programs. The ideal candidate is a fast learner, detail-oriented, and hard-working.
- Internship experience in a political, communications, or research setting preferred
- Previous campaign or political opposition research experience a plus
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Discretion and sound judgement when dealing with sensitive information
- Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to keep up with the news cycle
- Monitor TV, radio, social media, and other digital platforms for campaign activity
- Vetting of individuals and entities affiliated with the campaign
- Assist with compiling and maintaining records of ads and clips
- Assist with A/V research as needed
- Catalogue and transcribe media appearances as needed
- Conduct background research of issue areas and candidates as needed
- Conduct on-location research as necessary
- All other duties as assigned
- Salary: $4,750 per month
- Healthcare premium covered by campaign.
- This is an at-will position expected to end after the 2026 election.
- Applicants should be committed to work for the entire election cycle.
- Hours:
Full-time position. This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and point in the cycle and is likely to require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle.
