Postdoctoral Research Scholar - Bioelectricity Lab

The Department of Molecular Biomedical Sciences trains doctors of veterinary medicine, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows interested in research-based careers focused on discovering new information about animal and human health and disease and using those findings to enhance animal and human health and well‑being.

The Bioelectricity Lab develops next‑generation technologies for the detection and treatment of diseases using electric‑field‑mediated phenomena.

Responsibilities

Lead large/small animal studies investigating the immunological effects of a new pulsed‑electric‑field cancer therapy. Lead additional experiments in the laboratory using in‑vitro models to investigate the effects of pulsed electric fields on biological tissues.

  • Plan and conduct in‑vitro and small‑animal studies
  • Evaluate samples from and participate in large‑animal studies
  • Participate in lab meetings and journal club
  • Prepare manuscripts and grants
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Preferences
  • Biological wet‑lab skills
  • Small‑animal handling skills
  • Writing manuscripts and grants
  • Ph.D. with experience with pulsed‑electric‑field technologies
  • Valid NC driver’s license not required

Work schedule:

Monday‑Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. with flexibility based on clinical schedules, animal/patient/experimental needs, and deadlines.

Anticipated hiring range: $60,000 – $75,000.
