The Lopez Soto Lab at NC State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to spearhead a project investigating synaptic proteins that regulate pain signaling. Duties and responsibilities include experimental design and execution, data analysis and scientific reporting, laboratory management and maintenance, and mentorship and collaboration.
Other work/responsibilities include planning and conducting in vitro and in vivo animal studies, participating in lab meetings, presenting at scientific conferences, and preparing manuscripts and grants if needed.

Requirements and preferences include a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in an appropriate field awarded no more than five years from the initial date of postdoctoral appointment. Preferred years experience, skills, training, and education include ability to work independently as well as contribute to a supportive team environment, goal-oriented and high level of motivation, strong patch clamp skills, excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail, accurate record keeping and data management skills, and ability to think critically and problem-solve.
Experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, immunohistology and imaging, rodent behavioral assays, and colony management is required. No commercial driver's license required.
Recruitment details include an anticipated hiring range of $58,656-$65,000. Job open date is 07/30/2026.
