Temporary Research Technician
Research tech will be part of the cotton breeding and genetics research team. He/she will help with processing of cotton samples including ginning and acid delinting, seed preparation for storage and planting and help grow the plants in the greenhouse and the fields, and selfing, crossing and harvesting of cotton in the breeding nurseries and field trials. Other essential duties of this position are to perform day-to-day activities of greenhouse care and maintenance and assist the post docs, grad students and research specialist while collecting phenotypic data and tissue samples from the greenhouses, growth chambers and cotton fields and perform lab-based experiments including DNA isolation, PACE marker assays, gene expression analyses, bioinformatic analyses of genotypic data, and analyze and summarize the molecular biology and phenotypic data.
Requirements and Preferences
Work Schedule - 39/hrs per week
Minimum Experience/Education
- Combination of training and experience required to perform the duties

- Computer literate
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as with a collaborative research team
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education - B.S. in Plant Sciences, Agriculture, Biology or related field
Experience with working with plants and/or general biology or general agriculture.
Required License or Certification
- Valid driver's license
Valid NC Driver's License required? - Yes
