Environmental Specialist Job Description
Liberty Waste Solutions is seeking an Environmental Specialist/Manager to ensure full compliance with environmental regulations, implement sustainable practices, and oversee environmental programs. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can collaborate across teams and ensure regulatory excellence.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws by inspecting facilities, reviewing project plans, and enforcing environmental codes.
- Conduct and oversee field work, including collecting air, water, and soil samples, and operating monitoring equipment.
- Monitor environmental conditions and identify potential compliance or operational risks.
- Analyze technical data to detect environmental risks and prepare reports for regulatory submissions.
- Investigate environmental incidents, complaints, or concerns and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental programs (e.g., stormwater, waste management, air quality).
- Collaborate with Environmental Engineers, consultants, regulatory agencies, and internal teams to solve environmental issues.
- Develop solutions to reduce environmental impact and improve site compliance.
- Provide environmental training and guidance to staff, fostering a culture of compliance and awareness.
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready environmental documentation, reports, and inspection logs.
- Assist with inspections conducted by regulatory agencies and third parties.
- Develop and maintain compliance schedules and tracking systems.
- Report directly to a supervisor:
Any decisions affecting environmental compliance or operations must receive prior approval from the supervisor. - Report regularly on progress, challenges, and recommendations to the supervisor and any additional designated leadership.
- All other duties as directed by Supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field (preferred).
- 1-3 years of experience in environmental compliance.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and provide training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting software.
Pay dependent on experience.
