NC Department of Adult Correction – Adult Correction Division

• Provide supervision for subordinate staff, conducting shift line‑up, making shift assignments, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
• Complete, review, and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
• Account for persons and funds to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready.
• Assign lower‑level custody staff to a particular area or post, overseeing officer activities and performance and ensuring that the custody, security and welfare of offenders is maintained.
• Arrange work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing operational procedures and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy.

• Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302).
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Produce a negative drug screening result.
• Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.

High School or GED diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Officer, or two years of experience as Correctional Officer II; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

$39,244.00 – $68,679.00
