Part-Time Electrician

Raleigh Water is seeking a motivated individual to join our Electrical & Instrumentation team as a Part-Time Electrician to support the department's wastewater treatment plants and lift stations, including North Carolina's only Bio Energy Recovery Project.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

The incumbent will perform skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment at wastewater treatment plants and lift stations by performing the following duties:

* Assists with the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical systems, motors, lighting, panels, and associated equipment

* Performs basic troubleshooting of electrical issues and assists with corrective actions under the direction of senior staff

* Services and operates a variety of electrical tools, meters, and test equipment used in plant and lift station maintenance

* Assists with installing new equipment, conduit, wiring, and devices as approved by the supervisor

* Follows established safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and PPE requirements

* Performs any other task in support of the Electrical & Instrumentation team

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency, and 1 to 3 years' experience as a journey level electrician or related work

OR

Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted

Computer

Skills:

* To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Software, Database software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software

Licensing and

Certifications:

* Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

Other

Qualifications:

* Must have the ability to operate basic electrical tools and equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, hand tools, ladders, and other standard electrical testing devices

* Must be able to perform physical work, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces and varying weather conditions, and follow all safety requirements associated with wastewater treatment facilities
