Job Description

The Master Electrician role is devoted to journey-level skilled trades work in the construction, alteration and repair of utility plant facilities and equipment. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and control equipment supporting the operations of a large-scale water treatment and pumping facility. This role ensures the continuous and safe operation of medium-voltage power distribution, motor control centers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), SCADA systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and instrumentation critical to water treatment, distribution, and pumping processes.
Key responsibilities include troubleshooting and diagnosing complex electrical and control system issues, performing preventive maintenance on electrical infrastructure, updating wiring diagrams and control schematics, and ensuring all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and safety regulations. The electrician collaborates closely with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to maintain system integrity and operational efficiency.
This position requires expertise in industrial automation, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to respond to emergency repairs under minimal supervision in a mission-critical environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems including medium- and low-voltage power distribution for pumps, motors, and treatment equipment
- Troubleshoots, tests, and diagnoses issues with complex electrical and electronic control systems
- Maintains and calibrates PLCs, SCADA systems, HMIs, and other automation controls used in water treatment and pumping operations
- Performs preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical panels, MCCs, transformers, switch gear, and control wiring
- Installs and configures variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, and motor protection systems
- Interprets and updates electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and control schematics
- Ensures compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA standards, and facility safety policies
- Assists in system upgrades, retrofits, and expansions, including the integration of new control systems and electrical components
- Coordinates with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to support facility reliability and performance
- Responds to after-hours emergencies or critical failures as part of an on-call rotation when required
