About the Role
Ensures smooth and efficient operation of the HVAC systems, keeping the RDU Airport Authority facilities running like a well-tuned aircraft. This role navigates through a variety of maintenance challenges, much like a skilled pilot adapting to changing conditions, ensuring the safe and reliable function of our public facility. Additionally, the Maintenance Mechanic plays a crucial role in weather-related operations, such as snow removal or hurricane preparedness, ensuring our 24/7 operation remains airborne without turbulence.
This is a 2nd shift position, working from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday (with Sunday and Monday off).
- Maximum – Based on experience
- Minimum – $24.84
- Employees working second shift are eligible for a $1.00 per hour shift differential.
- Direct expansion air conditioning units
- A variety of pumps associated with HVAC, from 1 hp to 100 hp throughout the airport
- The airport's AHUs and ventilation systems
- Boilers and hot water system
- Chillers and chilled water system
- Cooling towers
- Variable frequency drives
- Monitors and operates all RDU Building Management Systems
- Maintains and assists with HVAC water treatment
- High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Associate degree or Apprentice Program (Preferred)
- 2 or more years of experience in the HVAC trade (Required)
- 4 or more years of experience in the HVAC trade (Preferred)
- Valid NC Driver’s License (Required)
- NC Registered Journeyman's Certificate (Preferred)
- CDL class B License (or ability to obtain within 9 months) (Preferred)
This position is considered Essential. This means this department and role are essential to operations and required to be on-site when there is an airport incident (emergency/weather).
