Position Overview

The Foreman (Field Leader) plays a critical role within the Operations department, reporting directly to the Field Resource Manager and maintaining a dotted line to the Project Manager. This position is responsible for managing technicians of all levels and serves as the primary interface with the Assistant Project Manager, Field Resource Manager, Project Coordinator, and, when necessary, the Project Manager.

Position Summary

The Foreman is accountable for the daily execution of field operations, focusing on delivering production, quality, safety, and productivity at the jobsite. While budget management, contract administration, and client negotiations are not within the scope of this role, the Foreman ensures that all assigned work is performed correctly, safely, and efficiently each day by following approved plans and systems. Their primary responsibility is to build the work, maintain high standards of quality, and ensure optimal results in a timely manner on a daily basis.

Overseeing daily production and ensuring task completion

Maintaining field quality through first-pass inspections

Driving crew productivity and labor efficiency

Upholding jobsite safety and regulatory compliance

Ensuring accurate field reporting and thorough documentation

Key Responsibilities Daily Field Execution

Plan and coordinate daily and weekly work activities

Assign tasks to technicians, considering their skills and readiness

Direct both crews and subcontractors on-site

Verify that all work meets drawings, specifications, and standards

Quality Control

Conduct quality install checks

Ensure all installations comply with company and contractual standards

Identify and address any deficiencies early in the process

Assist with inspections and the completion of punch lists

Productivity and Labor Control

Monitor crew output relative to labor hours used

Ensure technicians understand and strive for daily goals

Minimize rework and operational inefficiencies

Proactively identify and communicate productivity concerns

Safety Leadership

Enforce jobsite safety rules and best practices at all times

Conduct required safety briefings

Halt work immediately if unsafe conditions arise

Report any incidents without delay

Field Reporting and Documentation

Maintain accurate daily reports using Fieldwire

Upload photos, progress updates, and report any issues

Track task completion and punch list items

Update Productivity sheet daily

Ensure all field documentation accurately reflects site conditions

Issue and Risk Identification

Recognize changes in scope, site constraints, and potential risks early

Document all issues clearly and promptly

Escalate execution issues through proper channels as needed

Provide feedback on constructability and sequencing for continuous improvement

Training and Team Development

Coach technicians on correct installation methods

Identify skill gaps and communicate training needs

Provide feedback to the Field Resource Manager

Complete all Trainual milestones

Support the onboarding process for new technicians

System Ownership and Expectations

Fieldwire:
The Foreman is the primary owner of field execution data, responsible for daily task updates, photo uploads, issue tracking, and maintaining punch lists. Accurate representation of on-site activities is essential.

Project Plan 365:
Executes work according to the approved schedule and provides feedback on sequencing and feasibility. The Foreman does not modify the master schedule.

Connect Wise:
Ensures accurate and timely entry of technician hours, verifying that labor records reflect the actual work performed.

Productivity Reporting:
Tracks daily crew productivity and uses collected data to refine planning and execution. Adheres to the principle: "If it’s not in Fieldwire, it didn’t happen."

Authority and Decision Rights

The Foreman has the authority to direct technicians and subcontractors on-site, assign daily tasks and set work priorities, stop work to address safety or quality concerns, and request resources, materials, or clarification as needed.…
