We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a variety of construction equipment used in civil construction projects, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and backhoes. This role is critical in helping to complete site preparation, grading, trenching, and other earthwork-related tasks efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner on active construction sites
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning
- Follow project plans, blueprints, and verbal instructions to complete work as directed
- Load, unload, and transport materials as needed
- Grade, level, and excavate according to project specifications
- Maintain awareness of site hazards and promote safe working conditions at all times
- Report equipment issues or needed repairs promptly to supervisor or maintenance team
- Assist with routine equipment maintenance and cleaning
- Work closely with foremen, laborers, and other team members to meet project deadlines
- Comply with all safety regulations, company policies, and procedures
- Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment in a civil construction environment
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred, but not required)
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus
- Strong knowledge of job site safety practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and site layouts
- Physical ability to sit, stand, and operate equipment for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites
