GFL Environmental seeks a 2nd-Shift Mechanic to maintain and repair fleet vehicles and heavy equipment supporting waste management operations. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical and brake systems, and performing preventive maintenance to ensure safe, reliable operation. You'll document work, follow strict safety procedures, and collaborate with drivers and supervisors to prioritize repairs. Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel trucks and heavy equipment used in waste collection and hauling
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles to minimize downtime
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and braking systems
- Complete maintenance records, work orders, and parts usage accurately in the system
- Collaborate with drivers and supervisors to prioritize repairs and ensure equipment readiness
- Adhere to all safety, environmental, and company policies during repair and maintenance activities
- Operate shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting devices safely on 2nd shift
