Maintenance Technician

Ravenscroft is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team. This is a full-time, non-exempt position responsible for general, semi-skilled maintenance on buildings and grounds to help ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained campus.

This role is ideal for a hands-on, self-motivated individual who enjoys variety in their work — from diagnosing and repairing electrical and plumbing issues to operating equipment, setting up for campus events, and supporting the safety and security of our community.

REPORTS TO:

Transportation Supervisor

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and perform general maintenance on buildings and grounds
  • Maintain, repair, and install secondary electrical and plumbing systems and equipment not requiring a certified electrician or plumber
  • Paint interior and exterior structures and perform related repairs
  • Safely operate golf carts and other motorized vehicles
  • Remove snow, ice, and storm debris as needed
  • Direct incoming and outgoing traffic during school hours and assist with campus lockdown procedures
  • Set up facilities for events, including chairs, tables, and staging
  • Operate power tools and equipment such as pressure washers and scissor lifts
  • Provide security, traffic control, and cleanup support for sports events
  • Supply and maintain basic hand tools, and move furniture and materials as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work-related maintenance experience
  • Valid North Carolina CDL
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and as part of a diverse team
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and special events
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills

Preferred

  • Experience in an independent or private school environment.
  • Familiarity with facilities management operations and terminology

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This role is based on Ravenscroft's campus and involves work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, dirt, pollen, noise, and hazardous or toxic chemicals. The position requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling for extended periods; frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds; manual dexterity to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and motorized equipment;

and the ability to climb ladders and work on uneven surfaces or at varying heights. Extended or irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required to support school operations and events. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
