Industrial Automation Technician

Summary

DO Supply is a global supplier of industrial automation equipment, helping manufacturers around the world keep their operations running efficiently. We are seeking an Industrial Automation Technician to join our Production team and support the testing, repair, refurbishment, and calibration of industrial automation equipment.

This role is ideal for a hands‑on technician who enjoys troubleshooting, learning new technologies, and solving complex technical problems. You'll work with a wide range of industrial automation products including PLCs, drives, HMIs, motors, and related control equipment. Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and drives is highly preferred, but we also welcome candidates with strong electronic, electrical, maintenance, or technical backgrounds who are eager to learn.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test, repair, calibrate, and refurbish industrial automation equipment including PLCs, drives, HMIs, motors, and related control devices
  • Perform component-level troubleshooting and repairs using advanced diagnostic techniques
  • Test repaired equipment and accurately document findings within company software systems
  • Utilize multimeters, loop simulators, oscilloscopes, tachometers, test fixtures, and other diagnostic tools
  • Configure automation products and install parameters to verify communication and functionality
  • Perform through-hole and surface-mount soldering as required during repair processes
  • Collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, and Operations teams to support customer orders and inventory requirements
  • Ensure repaired equipment meets company quality standards before shipment
  • Maintain organized workstations, testing equipment, and repair documentation
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and share technical knowledge with team members
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
What We Are Looking For
  • Strong technical aptitude and mechanical or electrical troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience working with electronic, electrical, industrial automation, or industrial control equipment preferred
  • Ability to think critically and solve technical problems independently
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Effective communication skills and professional work ethic
  • Desire to learn industrial automation products and technologies
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Component-level troubleshooting experience
  • Through-hole and surface-mount soldering skills
  • Experience using electronic diagnostic and testing equipment
  • Understanding of electrical and electronic systems
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and basic computer applications
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of PLCs, drives, HMIs, motors, and industrial automation equipment preferred
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley automation products is highly desirable
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma required
  • Technical School Certification in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred
OR
  • Minimum of 2 years of related industrial automation, electronics repair, maintenance, or technical experience
  • Knowledge of industrial automation products is a plus

Work Schedule

This full-time position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm with a flexible one-hour lunch break. Employees must maintain reliable transportation and consistent attendance. This position is fully on-site and remote work is not available.

Work Environment

This position operates in a production and warehouse environment where employees work with industrial automation equipment, electronic devices, testing systems, soldering equipment, hand tools, and repair fixtures. Frequent walking, repetitive hand-tool use, typing, and hands‑on technical work are required. Team members collaborate closely with Production, Sales, Purchasing, and Operations departments to support customer needs and business objectives.
