Essential

Job Duties
  • Perform carpentry work related to renovations, repairs, alterations, and construction projects, including the installation and finishing of drywall, ceilings, flooring, cabinetry, countertops, and related building components.
  • Install and repair doors, windows, trim, millwork, hardware, partitions, and other interior and exterior building features.
  • Modify and reconfigure existing spaces by removing or constructing walls, installing partitions, and making structural and non-structural alterations to support facility needs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work orders to ensure accurate project execution and compliance with design requirements.
  • Utilize a variety of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment to complete projects safely, efficiently, and with a high level of craftsmanship.
  • Identify facility-related issues associated with renovation and construction activities and recommend practical solutions to support project objectives.
  • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other trades personnel to coordinate work, resolve construction challenges, and ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable building codes, safety regulations, quality standards, and material specifications.
  • Apply knowledge of carpentry and related building trades to support facility maintenance and construction efforts while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Safely climb and work from different types of ladders to access elevated or below-grade areas (such as roofs, above-ceiling spaces, and utility pits). Be exposed to and work in areas where insects or small animals are occasionally present. All essential tasks must be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Perform lifting duties up to 30 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the general public, and follows verbal and written instructions related to work assignments and operational needs.
Other Responsibilities
  • This position is considered Mandatory to the operations of the University and may be required to report to work under adverse weather conditions. Position may assist in the removal of snow under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.
