Responsibilities and Duties
- When provided with the necessary service literature, provide the technical expertise to service, perform maintenance and repair most equipment.
- Service DX equipment up to 100tons.
- Service packaged, water‑cooled AC units up to 150tons.
- Service water source heat pumps and associated equipment.
- Service computer‑room type units with self‑contained humidifiers and controls.
- Service gas‑fired and electric heating systems found in commercial equipment up to 150tons.
- Service pneumatic, electronic and modular DDC control systems generally associated with commercial HVAC systems.
- Service air‑handling equipment including VAV systems typically found in larger commercial systems.
- Start the system, observe operation, read gauges and instruments and adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in the system.
- Provide repair of requested equipment which includes replacement or adjustment of defective or worn parts/components in order to return systems to fully operational.
- Perform proper evaluation and diagnosis of malfunctioning equipment at customer sites; include bringing questionable situations with equipment and/or customers to the immediate supervisor’s attention.
- Perform site start‑up services for newly installed commercial equipment.
- Consistently contact base after each call, keeping the dispatcher informed at all times as to job status, checking in at the end of the day and getting next‑day job assignment before leaving for the day.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance services as determined by customer.
- Perform cleaning of condenser and evaporator coils, fan and ductwork.
- Inspect, adjust and replace fan belts on motors.
- Install wiring to connect components to electric power source.
- High School or Trade School Graduate or GED.
- Holds a Universal Refrigerant Card (TypeI or Universal).
- Commercial experience.
- Maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by management.
- Maintain a flexible working schedule, including weekend on‑call rotation for standby emergency service per rotation schedule.
- Appearance must be clean and neat at all times; truck and all equipment must be clean at all times.
- Abide by safety rules and regulations, including courteous and defensive driving.
- Maintain current, valid driver’s license & satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
- Perform frequent standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
- Occasionally lift, push equipment.
- Have ability to get into and work in very close/tight areas during service calls and equipment installation.
- Lift, push, pull or carry from 10 to 50pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: near, distance, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Responsible for maintaining company tools in accordance with company policies and procedures.
