The Equipment Division is seeking a skilled, safety-focused Field Mechanic to service, diagnose, and repair heavy diesel equipment directly on our job sites. In this role, you will help keep crews productive by responding to equipment issues, performing preventative maintenance, and minimizing downtime in the field. The ideal candidate is a dependable problem-solver who understands diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and the demands of working independently in changing outdoor conditions.

• Travel to construction job sites to inspect, diagnose, service, and repair diesel-powered equipment such as excavators, dozers, compactors, loaders, and haul trucks.
• Perform preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, troubleshooting, and component replacements in field conditions.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues using technical knowledge, service information, and diagnostic tools when available.
• Communicate clearly with foremen, operators, supervisors, and equipment team members to understand issues, coordinate repairs, and update equipment status.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked service truck; document maintenance and repair work accurately.
• Operate equipment as needed to verify repairs and confirm safe, reliable performance before returning equipment to service.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience servicing and repairing heavy diesel equipment in a field, shop, construction, rental, or fleet environment.
• Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrain components, and preventative maintenance practices.
• Comfortable working outdoors and traveling between job sites in varying conditions, including heat, mud, uneven terrain, and active construction environments.
• Dependable, safety-conscious, self-motivated, and able to prioritize repairs with limited supervision.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required; CDL and/or DOT medical card preferred.
• Experience with CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, or similar construction equipment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, parts diagrams, fault codes, and maintenance documentation.
