Position Title

Facility Maintenance Technician - Mechanical Trades

The primary purpose of this position is to provide expedient and professional maintenance to the students who live in residence halls, apartments, and fraternity/sorority houses on the campus of NC State. The incumbent will construct, install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures throughout the housing facilities.

• Construct, install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures in the residence halls, apartments, and fraternity/sorority houses for DASA Facilities.
• Perform physical tasks including lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, pulling heavy rolls of wire, and other similar duties.

• High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

• Considerable knowledge of the standard practices and methods of the electrical trade.
• Skill in the use and care of tools of the trade.
• Ability to locate and correct defects in electrical systems and equipment.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints and sketches.
• Ability to train apprentices in the electrical trade.

• Valid North Carolina driver’s license within 60 days of hire.

Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Occasional overtime may be required during heavy work loads.

Housing – Facilities Administration, Department of Academic & Student Affairs, NC State.

$56,000 – $64,000 per year.
