Position: Housing - Social Worker

What You'll Be Doing

Join Us as Our Next Housing Social Worker

This position provides housing-focused case management services to individuals and families at risk of eviction.
The Housing –Social Worker
conducts eligibility and housing stability assessments,develops individualized service plans and supports short- and long-termhousing stability.

The role includes ongoing case management, landlord and household mediation,coordination with legal aid and community partners and referrals to housingprograms when eviction prevention is not viable. The position also assistsclients with budgeting, resource planning and follow-up to support sustainedhousing outcomes.

Duties Include:

  • Conducteligibility and housing stability assessments
  • Provide ongoing housing-focused case management and service planning
  • Supportlandlord and household mediation, including arrears negotiation
  • Coordinate with legal aid, housing providers and community partners
  • Referclients to Bridge to Home or other housing programs when prevention is notviable
  • Assist clients with budgeting, resource planning and follow-up
About Our Team

Wake Prevent! is an eviction prevention program within Wake County’s Department of Housing Affordability and Community Revitalization. The program provides time-sensitive, short-term financial assistance and housing stabilization services to Wake County residents experiencing a housing crisis and at risk of eviction. Services include landlord and household mediation and ongoing case management, with a focus on early intervention to help families maintain stable housing and avoid homelessness.

Basics (Required

Education and Experience )
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field
  • One year of job-related experience
  • Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred

Education and Experience )
  • Experience working with individuals or families at risk of homelessness
  • Housing-focused case management experience, including assessments and service coordination
  • Experience with housing or landlord engagement
  • Bilingual skills (preferred, but not required)

  • Knowledge and understanding of housing instability, eviction prevention and housing-focused case management
  • Ability to respond effectively to housing crises using prevention-focused and de-escalation approaches
  • Ability to manage multiple cases, prioritize tasks and meet program deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with all individuals and families
  • Ability to communicate clearly and build rapport with clients, landlords and community partners
  • Knowledge of community resources and familiarity with local housing, legal and supportive service resources
